This is the best GIF. Ever.
Okay, we’re biased, but this could be the best Joy Division GIF ever.
Hard Daze Knight turned Kevin Cummins’ iconic 1979 photo of Ian Curtis at a table in Manchester into a rolling GIF featuring the iconic image of radio waves from a pulsar, which was used on their 1978 album, Unknown Pleasures.
The image was appropriated by Saville from The Cambridge Encyclopaedia of Astronomy, reversing a black-on-white image of the radio waves to a white-on-black that would be the album’s cover and later, be reused on T-shirts and just about anything completely non-science or Joy Division-related.
What a brilliant bloody GIF!
