Based in sunny San Diego is illustrator Philip Tseng whose works, he admits, are inspired largely by pop-culture or food, or an amalgamation of both.
The motivation behind his series titled AlphaDeath is based on a morbid child-like fascination with death, vegetables and alphabets. It is also part of a 365 project (a design a day for 365 days). A certain recipe for disaster.
We wonder whether it’s due to excessive replays of annoying orange.
“I remembered these alphabet flashcards in grade school with cute pictures of corresponding objects to letters, and I thought it would be funny (or weird) to make a morbid version where fruits and vegetables are being chopped up or murdered.”Philip Tseng in his e-mail interview with Contented.
This serial alphabet killer says he has no qualms of stopping at the English language, and wants to try out other variations and maybe even foreign languages like Japanese.
