Once again, a feature on Sikh bearded men in their colourful turbans. A pictorial celebration of beards, turbans, fashion and photography.
Born and bred London-based photographers Amit and Naroop have embarked on the SINGH Project, a collection of 35 stunning photographs of Sikh men from various ages; diverse backgrounds aiming to celebrate the identities of Sikh men and their culture.
With nine years of experience in their bag, Amit and Naroop have also photographed a host of other notable British personalities, from comedian Ricky Gervais to reggae and music purveyor, David Rodigan, and rappers like Jay Sean and Tinie Tempah.
“One of the most exciting things about the Singh project is actually hearing the buzzer when they arrive, because every time someone came up, each person was different.”Amit, in his promotional video on Kickstarter
As odd as it seems, the inspiration behind the SINGH project was sparked by their fascination with bearded trends in 2013, where male models spotting facial hair of various sizes and lengths were spread out on editorials, TV commercials and mega billboards.
More importantly for Amit and Naroop, the SINGH project is a tribute to the beauty and diversity of the Sikh heritage, and an expression of their artistic style as contemporary British photographers.
