LE BANG: A repurposing of 1955 French noir film, Rififi, which won best director at Cannes.

Will Schofield is not your average blogger. A good day for him would mean getting immersed in a great read.

Started as an old fashion book blog known as Journey Around My Skull, 37-year-old Will Schofield has been independently running his site, 50 Watts, since August 2007. 50 watts showcases exceptionally rare specimens from wherever his love for books may bring him.

Having literally zero background in art, it was bibliomania that spurred his appreciation for corresponding artists and got him learning about surrealism and symbolism in art.

“Sometime in 2008,I trash-picked Biology Today, an early-1970s textbook with fantastically strange illustrations,” he told The Atlantic. “I featured the book and got a lot of positive feedback. Soon I started to collect illustrated books and to contact artists about showcasing their work, and the blog morphed into its graphic-intensive state.”

His love for books and design has led him to scanning copies after copies of book covers and bibliographic graphics. His recent curated graphics include 30 vintage posters from Japan.

While most of them are posters of Japanese films, do pay attention to the renditions of American and European films. The repurposing is neat, surreal and creative.

Good job, Will.
